Attic Insulation

Insulating your attic reduces your heating bills, increases the value of your home, improves your BER and creates a warm healthy environment for you and your family. So how does it work?

Firstly we carry out a free attic insulation site survey to determine the level of insulation needed to meet your needs (adhere to best practice and Building Regulations), then we determine the state of the attic's ventilation.

When we have determined the level of the existing attic insulation we calculate the depth of insulation needed to achieve a total minimum depth of 300mm.

We then look at the ventilation of the roof space so that we comply with Part F of Building Regulations. We generally improve roof ventilation by either installing additional soffit vents or adding Slate/Tile vents.

This is also dealt with in (NSAI S.R.54:2014 clause 6.3.2.1 figure 19) See above

Insulating Your Attic

Once we have determined the level of insulation needed and your ventilation requirements we install a raised walkway for access to the water tanks and exposed pipework.

We also draft proof the attic hatch so to prevent cold air leaking into your home.

All our attic installs are carried out in accordance with NSAI S.R.54:2014 , code of practice for the energy efficient retrofit of dwellings.

Brusna Energy Solutions uses the very best Knauf R44 Earthwool® to insulate between and over the joists on the floor of the attic, The insulation will be layed at least 300mm thick, making sure your home is warmer and meets the spec of the SEAI.

The cold water tank in the attic will also be insulated, using the Air Packs Cold Water Lagging Jacket, again this product is approved by the SEAI. We carry a range of sizes to fit all tank sizes. The lagging jacket is made from a strong, resilient material and comes with 80mm of glass fibre infill.

The pipe's and pipe fittings in the attic will also be insulated to the spec of the SEAI. We use the best pipe insulation on the market in insure the pipes are insulated to the highest standard. Giving you piece of mind.

When you get our Attic Insulation Package, we will also install and walk way leading up to your water tank. this is useful for checking your tank and for storing boxes etc.

CPI Spray Foam Insulation

We can also insulate your attic using open cell spray foam insulation supplied by industry leader CPI Foam. Employing CPI Foam's unique 'breathable vent card system' we ensure Part L of the building standards is met of a 50mm air gap between roofing felt and insulation is required.

Firstly the vent card is attached to the rafter 50mm from the felt the the spray foam is applied at a depth sufficient for your insulation needs.

The advantage of using spray foam insulation is that when applied it creates an airtight envelope while allowing your home to 'breathe'. See our spray foam insulation for more information.
